COSMETIC PROCEDURES OFFERED

BOTOX®

Description:
Treats "expression lines" such as crow's feet and frown lines. These lines form from repeated contracture of the underlying muscle in the skin below the wrinkle. A few drops of BOTOX® are injected into the muscle to block the nerve impulse from reaching the area. As a result the overlying wrinkle relaxes and softens. The wrinkle often disappears with time.

Benefits:
Fast, relatively painless procedure.

Most common side effects:
Mild stinging with injection and occasional bruising. BOTOX® has been used safely for over 14 years.

Costs:
1 area $259, 2 areas $409, 3 areas $569.
We ALWAYS use full strength BOTOX® @ 1u/0.01cc.
Examples of 1 area;
Crow's feet (Both eyes)
Frown line (between eyebrows)
Upper forehead

Duration:
Effects can wear off in 3 to 5 months. Treatment may be repeated.

Restylane Injections

Description:
Restylane smooths wrinkles and enhances lips instantly. Restylane is an innovation based on non-animal hyaluronic acid. The treatment is performed by injecting Restylane into the skin or lip, and because no pre-test is needed it takes less than 30 minutes. Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in the body and therefore it also dissolves naturally with time.

Hyaluronic acid is present in all living organisms. In your skin it creates volume, resulting in healthy and vital appearance. Restylane contains hyaluronic acid in the form of a crystal-clear gel injected into the skin to lift the lip, wrinkle or fold. Once in the skin, Restylane works together with the body's own hyaluronic acid and joins forces to create volume.

In contrast to other biodegradable implants, Restylane is not extracted from animals. This means almost no risk of allergic reactions. Therefore, Restylane is perfectly safe to use instantly without pre-testing.

Restylane's ability to bind water is unique, and when the molecules dissolve even they turn into water and depart without leaving any trace in your body. Unlike permanent implants, Restylane always leaves you a choice when the effect of the treatment has worn off.

The Restylane treatment:
The treatment takes about 10-30 minutes and the result is prompt. Topical anesthetics provide pain relief. If lips are treated, a small amount of anesthesia is used to numb the area first. Restylane is then injected with immediate results. The treated area can be slightly swollen and red for 12-24 hours. For further details concerning your specific treatment, please consult with Dr. Dobry.

Duration:
How long the effect of Restylane treatment lasts is very individual. It depends on many factors such as the structure of the skin, lifestyle and age as well as on the degree of perfection demanded by the individual. However, we know that for the majority of the patients treated about 50-80% of the effects remain after 4-6 months. Most people choose to have an additional treatment done within 6 months of the original treatment. An additional treatment can be performed any time you like after the previous treatment.

Anticipated side effects:
After the injection, some common injection-related reactions may occur. These reactions include erythema, swelling, pain, itching, discoloration or tenderness at the implant site. Typically, resolution is spontaneous within a few days after injection into the skin, and within a week after injection into the lips. Additionally, temporary palpable lumpiness has been noted after injection in some patients.

Adverse events:
Reactions thought to be of hypersensitivity nature have been reported in about one in every 2000 treatments. These have consisted of swelling and induration at the implant site, sometimes with edema in the surrounding tissues. Redness, tenderness and, rarely, acneform papules may also occur. The reactions have started either shortly after injection or after a delay of 2 to 4 weeks and can generally be described as mild to moderate, and self-limiting with an average duration of two weeks. In pronounced cases a short course of oral corticosteroids may prove effective.

Costs:
$290 for 0.4 cc syringe
$399 for 0.7 cc syringe
$499 for 1.0 cc syringe

Laser Removal of Blood Vessels and Brown Spots

Description:
Many benign lesions such as unsightly blood vessels, red spots, freckles, sunspots, and old age spots can be treated easily and effectively with either our HGM cosmetic laser or the Light Sheer laser. The lasers selectively treat various skin problems without damaging the surrounding normal tissue. The yellow wave length available with the HGM laser targets red lesions. The green wave length targets brown or purple lesions. The 800 nm wavelength of the Light Sheer laser can target larger brown spots.

Benefits:
Both lasers have an excellent safety record. Treatment is fast. There is usually no down time. Make-up can be applied immediately.

Most common side effects:
Immediately, there may be some redness and very rarely scabbing. Lesions heal in about 1 week. Laser treament can feel hot to the skin during treatment. An anesthesia is applied prior to the procedure. There is no discomfort following the procedure.

Costs:
5 minutes, $115
10 minutes, $170
(insurance may cover if the lesions are result of precancerous sun damage changes)

Duration:
After 1 to 3 treatments results are usually permanent. Touch-up treatments may be required from repeat sun exposure and with aging.

Chemical Peels

Description:
Chemical peels have been used for over 100 years to create an even and controlled shedding of the skin. Peels can effectively reduce fine lines and wrinkles, uneven pigmentation, shallow acne scars, sun damaged skin and age spots. This procedure is performed in a doctor's office and involves the application of a series of peeling agents to the skin to remove dead cells and stimulate the production of new skin cells. Most patients experience a mild to moderate hot sensation lasting 1 to 10 minutes depending on the depth of the peel. Depending on your skin problem and the desired results, a superficial, medium or deep peel will be recommended.

Light peels require little down time with minimal peeling from 2 to 7 days following the peel.
The medium to heavy peels require 4-7 days of hiding.
The procedure takes 5 to 60 minutes, depending on the depth of the peel.
Chemical peels can be performed safely on the face, neck, chest, and hands.

Benefits:
Light peels can result in significant improvement of uneven pigmentation, acne, and leathery skin without hiding out. Usually 3 peels are recommended and done in a series (every 3-4 weeks).

The heavier peels require some down time but result in a deeper and more permanent result, especially with respect to wrinkles.

Most common side effects:
Peeling, temporary redness and brown pigmentation lasting usually 1 to 2 weeks for the heavier peels. Peels can rarely flare acne. Occasionally, cold sores can be triggered. This is easily treated with cold sore medication (acyclovir). Scarring is vary rare for heavy peels but has been reported.

Cost:
Face:
Light peel: (Jessner's and 10 to 15% TCA): $95
Medium peel: (Jessner's and 25% TCA): $300
Heavy peel: (Jessner's and 35% TCA): $600

Hands, neck or chest:
Light peel: $75 per area
Medium peel: $200 per area
(reduced if more than 1 area is done at a time)

Duration:
Light peels are usually done in a series of 3 with touch-up peels every 6 to 12 months.
The results of heavy peels are more permanent. Peels may be repeated in 1 to 3 years if further improvement is desired.
